Metagigs Community Standards

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Metagigs is currently in technology preview (alpha) and is not in full production mode. Software and process bugs and missing or broken functionality is to be expected. While in this stage, MINORS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO USE THE METAGIGS PLATFORM. We will remove this notice and make an announcement once this restriction is lifted.

Metagigs’s mission is to connect a billion people with optimism and civility. Every day, tens of millions of people around the world have fun with friends as they explore millions of immersive digital experiences and video games. We believe in building a safe, civil, and diverse community—one that inspires and fosters creativity and positive relationships between people around the world.

We’ve created these Community Standards to help ensure that everyone feels safe and welcome in our shared adventure. These Standards apply to all of your actions on Metagigs and with other fellow Metagigs users, both online and at any real-world events hosted by Metagigs.

We ask that you respect our Standards and each other at all times — and understand that violating them may result in enforcement action against your Account(s) and content. For some behavior that violates these Standards, such as behavior that poses a real-world risk to others, we reserve the right to contact or cooperate with the relevant authorities in order to keep everyone safe.

We’re always learning, so as our community evolves and our platform grows, these Standards may change too. If you see something that you think violates the Community Standards, or otherwise makes you feel unsafe, please let us know by contacting us at support@metagigs.gg. We appreciate your cooperation with these Standards and commitment to keeping Metagigs safe and civil.

1) Safety

We want our community to be a place where people can connect with optimism and civility, regardless of their identity or beliefs. To ensure Metagigs is a place where everyone feels comfortable being themselves, the following is not allowed:

a) Child Endangerment

Metagigs has a zero-tolerance policy for endangering minors, including:

i) Any predatory behavior, including attempting to befriend a minor in order to manipulate and exploit them (i.e., grooming)

ii) Sexualizing minors in any way

iii) Engaging in sexual conversation with or soliciting sexual material from minors

iv) Sharing, requesting, or discussing child sexual exploitation material

v) Sexual extortion of children

vi) Child sex trafficking

vii) Coercion and enticement of a minor to engage in illegal sexual activity

b) Terrorism and Violent Extremism

Metagigs has a zero tolerance policy for content or behavior that incites, condones, supports, glorifies, or promotes any terrorist or extremist organization or individual (foreign or domestic), and their ideology, or actions, including:

i) Depictions of or support for terrorist or extremist attacks

ii) Depictions of or support for the leaders or representatives of terrorist or extremist organizations

iii) Sharing the slogans, images, flags, manifestos, or icons of terrorist or extremist organizations, either in whole or in readily identifiable form

iv) References to the ideologies, messages, or strategies of terrorist and extremist organizations

v) Expressing support, condoning, or glorifying terrorist extremist ideologies or actions

vi) Recruiting membership for a terrorist or extremist organization, or encouraging others to leave Metagigs to find such information

vii) Fundraising for terrorist or extremist organizations, people, or supporting groups

viii) Expressing support, condoning, or glorifying mass shootings and other acts of domestic terrorism or violent extremism

c) Threats, Bullying, and Harassment

Threatening others with real-world or online harm, inciting violence against people or property, bullying, stalking, trolling, harassment, intimidation, extortion, and blackmail are not permitted on Metagigs. We also do not allow any content that depicts, glorifies, or promotes such behavior, including:

i) Threatening physical or sexual assault or violence

ii) Threatening to harm someone in real life

iii) Revealing or threatening to reveal others’ personal information

iv) Threatening to take over another’s Metagigs account or to file false abuse reports against another user

v) Singling out a user or group for ridicule or abuse, either publicly or privately

vi) Sexual harassment

vii) Impersonating individuals, groups, or entities, in ways that may damage their reputation or cause others to harm them, either online or in real life

d) Suicide, Self Injury, and Harmful Behavior

At Metagigs, we take our users’ well-being very seriously. We’re here to help provide resources for those struggling with mental health, and we reserve the right to communicate with authorities regarding credible threats of self-harm. We do not allow content or behavior that depicts, glorifies, or encourages suicide, self-injury, or real-world activities that may create an extreme risk of physical harm including:

i) Describing methods for suicide or self-harm

ii) Content that glorifies, supports, or depicts instances or methods of suicide or self-harm

iii) Dangerous physical challenges or stunts in the real world

e) Discrimination, Slurs, and Hate Speech

Metagigs honors and welcomes users of all ages, backgrounds, and identities. We do not allow content or behavior that supports, glorifies, or promotes hate groups, their ideologies, or actions. You also may not discriminate, mock, or promote hatred against individuals or groups, or encourage others to do so directly or indirectly, on the basis of their:

i) Age

ii) Race, perceived race, or ethnicity

iii) National origin

iv) Sexual orientation

v) Gender, gender identity, or gender expression

vi) Religion or religious affiliation or beliefs

vii) Disability status including diseases, bodily conditions, disfigurement, mobility issues, and mental impairment

viii) Physical or mental disability status

ix) Veteran status

x) Caste

xi) Familial status

f) Harmful Off-Platform Speech or Behavior

Metagigs users treat everyone with respect, both on and off of Metagigs. If credibly reported to us, we may take action against users who, among other things:

i) Are associated with organized crime, terrorist or extremist organizations, or hate groups

ii) Harass, bully, discriminate, or harm others outside of Metagigs

iii) Share others’ personal information off-platform, including making false reports to authorities

iv) Have been convicted of certain egregious crimes, engage in certain illegal activities, or encourage others to do so

2) Civility

Civility is at the core of the Metagigs community. To promote our civil environment, Metagigs prohibits certain types of content, including:

a) Real-World Sensitive Events

Metagigs prohibits content that recreates specific real-world sensitive events; mocks the victims of such events; supports, glorifies, or promotes the perpetrators or outcome of such events; or capitalizes on these events for commercial purposes, including content about:

i) Mass acts of violence against people or property

ii) Specific, real-world, natural disaster events

iii) Human or civil rights violations

b) Violent Content and Gore

Although some experiences on Metagigs may include weapons and violence, we do not allow content that contains extreme violence or serious physical or psychological abuse, including:

i) Animal abuse and torture

ii) Realistic or real-world depictions of extreme gore, graphic violence, or death

c) Romantic and Sexual Content

Metagigs is a safe space for meeting online friends, chatting, and collaborating on creative projects, but we prohibit content that depicts sexual activity or seeks real world romantic relationships, including:

i) Romantic or flirtatious gestures or communication between users in a romantic context

ii) Pursuing or soliciting romantic relationships online

iii) Engaging in unwanted flirtatious behavior

iv) Engaging in sexually explicit conversations or soliciting sexual material from other Metagigs users

v) Content that depicts, strongly suggests, or explicitly describes sexual acts

vi) Nudity

vii) Sexually suggestive avatar bodies and clothing items

d) Illegal and Regulated Goods and Activities

We do not allow users to discuss or engage in illegal activities or encourage others to do so on Metagigs. We also prohibit the discussion, depiction, or promotion of some illegal and regulated goods or activities. This includes:

i) Controlled substances such pharmaceutical and recreational drugs, as well as alcohol, tobacco, vaping, and their associated paraphernalia

ii) Dietary supplements and enhancers such as weight loss pills and steroids

iii) Depictions of intoxicated behavior associated with consuming alcohol or drugs

iv) Purveyors of illegal and regulated substances

v) Bomb/explosive and weapon-making instructions or schematics in the real world

vi) Realistic modern firearms outside of in-Experience items

vii) On-platform contests where Metagigs Tokens or anything of value is offered as a prize

viii) Sweepstakes-style games

ix) Except where prohibited by local law or regulation, we allow discussions of gambling in experiences. However, no real money, Metagigs Tokens, or in-experience items of value may be exchanged in connection with any gambling activities.

e) Profanity

To keep Metagigs safe and civil for everyone, we do not allow swearing in any language text, images, or uploaded audio, including:

i) Using misspellings, special characters, or other methods to evade detection of profanity

ii) Quoting or using audio containing profane lyrics

f) Political Content

We value friendly debate about issues and topics that matter to Metagigs users. However, to maintain a civil and respectful environment, we prohibit the discussion or depiction of certain political content, including:

i) Current candidates running for public office, including their slogans, campaign material, rallies, or events

ii) Political parties, including official party-affiliated organizations

iii) Specific races for elected office

iv) Sitting real-world elected officials

v) Recent, previously-elected, officials in their official capacity

vi) Individuals who have previously run for political office in their capacity as candidate

vii) Desecration of political entity symbols, including flag burning

viii) Inflammatory content related to real world border, territorial, or jurisdictional relationships

3) Integrity

We want Metagigs users to trust each other to engage and play fairly and honestly, and to respect one another’s creativity and hard work. To encourage this, Metagigs requires its users to follow their local laws and prohibits or limits:

a) Cheating and Scams

We do not permit users to deploy or discuss deceptive schemes or methods of cheating on our platform, including:

i) Using exploits to gain an unfair advantage anywhere on the platform

ii) Sharing exploits with others or encouraging others to cheat

iii) Selling services with misleading or inaccurate descriptions

iv) Misrepresenting your real or virtual world identity in an effort to mislead others

v) Attempting to access another user’s account without their authorization

vi) Posting misleading links for the purpose of gaining unauthorized access to others’ accounts or information, either on Metagigs or elsewhere (i.e., phishing)

b) Spam

Metagigs prohibits disrupting or misleading others on the platform. This includes:

i) Deceptive, sensational, or otherwise misleading content or metadata used to inappropriately drive discoverability or engagement

ii) Repetitive messaging to other users or uploads to Metagigs systems

iii) Creating experiences solely to direct users off Metagigs

c) Intellectual Property Violations

We expect you to respect the intellectual property rights of others, and will remove infringing content upon receiving a valid copyright or trademark takedown request from a rights holder. Examples of intellectual property infringement may include:

i) Using another user’s content or materials to create your experience without their permission

ii) Using another users’s media in your experience without their permission

iii) Using a brand’s logo or designs for the content you create without their permission

Copyright and registered trademark takedown requests can be filed here. Metagigs may proactively delete or archive assets if we suspect that the content may be infringing on someone’s intellectual property rights.

d) Metagigs Economy

Metagigs maintains the Metagigs Tokens for everyone’s benefit and enjoyment. To keep it fair for everyone, some activity in the Metagigs Economy is prohibited, including:

i) Using third-party services to buy, sell, trade, or give away Metagigs Tokens. This does not apply to Metagigs gift cards.

ii) Engaging in off-platform, secondary market transactions for account access.

e) Promotional Offers

Users may not use off-platform services or products to sell on-platform services, items (including exclusive features or other in-experience enhancements) for money, Metagigs Tokens, either directly or as a bundle, unless expressly authorized by or in partnership with Metagigs.

f) Soliciting Donations

We also do not allow our community to solicit donations for a charitable cause on Metagigs, including:

i) In-experience prompts for users to donate Metagigs Tokens toward a crowdfunding campaign

ii) Claiming that a transaction is associated with a fundraiser

iii) Stating to users that some amount of Metagigs Tokens will be directed toward a cause

Note: the Platform we may offer a “tipping jar” feature for users to express appreciation towards a Seller for their outstanding fulfillment of an Order, or to generously reward them. Users understand and agree that they will receive nothing in return for their usage of the tipping jar feature.

4) Security

For our community to thrive, everyone must feel digitally safe as well as physically safe. We can achieve this by respecting each other’s personal information and Metagigs’s safety systems, and by keeping Metagigs accounts secure. This section describes how users should treat others’ information and protect their own and others’ digital security.

To help maintain a safe metaverse, Metagigs does not permit:

a) Sharing Personal Information

To maintain privacy and safety, users may be prohibited from sharing or requesting personal information on Metagigs, including:

i) Email address

ii) Passwords or access tokens

iii) Home address or physical location

iv) Financial information including credit cards and bank account details

v) Medical information

vi) Telephone number

vii) Internet Identifiers such as usernames and handles not linked to Metagigs

viii) Sensitive credentials such as social security number

ix) Visual and audio media of themselves or other non-public figures

x) Full legal names

b) Directing Users Off-Platform

When using Metagigs, you may not link to any external websites or services. Any links or efforts to evade detection of links are prohibited, including:

i) Links that contain Metagigs-inappropriate content

ii) Partial links, filter-breaking, and permitted website links to non-permitted websites

iii) Encouraging others to visit unpermitted external links

c) Misusing Metagigs Systems

Metagigs maintains many systems to keep our users safe and secure, and we prohibit attempts to bypass these systems, gain unauthorized access to Metagigs or to other users Metagigs accounts or information, or to otherwise violate our platform security requirements, including by:

i) Evading Safety and Security Systems

(1) Attempting to get prohibited content around our safety systems, including by hiding violative elements of assets

(2) Creating or using an account to avoid enforcement action taken against another account

(3) Using VPNs to mask your location in order to gain unauthorized access to Metagigs, including to a specific feature or account

(4) Offering access to your Metagigs account or soliciting access to another’s Metagigs account for the purpose of evading enforcement action or safety systems, or for any other purpose

ii) Disruptive Content and Behavior

(1) Using bots that are programmed to run disruptive tasks

(2) Uploading content that contains obfuscated code or hidden scripts that mislead end users or create disruptive experiences for them

(3) Injecting background noise into underlying audio that makes the intended audio unintelligible

(4) Injecting excessive loudness, screaming, or harsh noises that disrupts others’ experience, either in uploaded audio or through chat with voice

(5) Falsely reporting other users or experiences or encouraging others to do so

(6) Invading or flooding experiences or groups in an effort to disrupt the experience or its reputation
